Chairman Jung Won-joo of Daewoo Engineering & Construction received the Mahatma Gandhi International Award.
The Gandhi International Award is given by the NRI Welfare Foundation, the largest private organization of Indians abroad, to global figures who have contributed to promoting understanding in India and abroad. Chairman Chung is the first Korean winner and past winners include Mother Teresa.
Daewoo Engineering & Construction explained that it has been recognized for its contributions to local construction projects in India and the employment of Indian personnel at overseas sites.
