Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, is facing a first trial on charges of "perjury teacher" the day after tomorrow (25th).Analysts say that the charges of

'perjury teacher' have higher sentencing standards than 'violation of election law', which increases the judicial risk of representative Lee, who has already been sentenced to prison in the first trial of violation of election law.

Reporter Shin Ji-won reports.

According to the Supreme Court's sentencing standards, the sentence for perjury is basically 6 months to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

The perjury may be reduced if it conforms to objective facts or if the crime is confessed, but

If perjury is taught or perjury affects the outcome of the trial, the sentence may be increased to three years in prison.

The prosecution demanded a maximum sentence of three years in prison, saying that the false testimony demanded by CEO Lee was adopted as evidence of court statements and led to acquittal.

He also emphasized the need for aggravated punishment, saying that only a few fines have been imposed, with most of the perjury teachers sentenced to prison or probation over the past six years.

On the other hand, CEO Lee only asked Kim Jin-sung, who stood as a witness, to revive his memory 'as it is',
He criticized the prosecution for not having a significant impact on the outcome of the
trial.

[Lee Jae-myung / Democratic Party leader (final trial on September 30): "No need to tell the truth." When the prosecution indicts him for committing perjury by excluding all such information, is this not case manipulation or evidence manipulation?]

In the case of perjury teachers, if a sentence of imprisonment or higher is confirmed, they will lose their parliamentary seats and be deprived of their right to run for five years.

Representative Lee, who was sentenced to a suspended prison term in the first trial of violating the Public Official Election Act, is expected to face another political watershed according to the results of the first trial of perjury teacher charges.
