Asked by reporters on the 25th local time if Russia would consider the possibility of deploying medium and short-range missiles to Asia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said it was one of the potential options that has been repeatedly mentioned.
Ryabkov added that the next steps, including military and military technical responses, will be decided depending on where such a system from the United States appears in the world.
He also stressed that there are no international restrictions on the deployment of the new intermediate-range ballistic missile "Oresynik," which Russia used in its attack on Ukraine on the 21st.
Ryabkov explained that under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) signed by the U.S. and the former Soviet Union in 1987, there were restrictions on the deployment of medium and short-range missiles, but the restrictions were removed when the U.S. declared the treaty to be broken in 2019.
