The Korea Meteorological Administration announced a preliminary warning of heavy snowfall in the mountains and Taebaek in Gangwon Province at 9 a.m. today, and said the effective time will be overnight tonight.
It also added that it is considering expanding the issuance in the afternoon by comprehensively analyzing the amount of snow and the timing of snow in inland areas.
The amount of snow expected from night to day after tomorrow is up to 20cm in the mountains of Gangwon-do, 15cm in eastern Jeollabuk-do, 5cm in the mountains of Jeju, and 3 to 8cm in the metropolitan area.
A heavy snow warning is issued when new snow is expected to accumulate for more than 5cm in 24 hours, and when the warning is more than 20cm and in mountainous areas more than 30cm.
