The National Federation of School Non-regular Workers warned today (26th) that if negotiations are not reached by this week, a general strike will be forced.
They have been negotiating wages with the Ministry of Education and 17 provincial offices of education since June, demanding the normalization of basic salaries, closing the wage gap, and applying the same standard for welfare benefits.
The solidarity meeting explained that if an agreement is not reached, more than 20,000 non-regular school workers across the country will participate in the general strike.
In the event of a strike, each office of education plans to operate a situation room and provide alternative foods such as bread and milk for lunch to elementary, middle and high schools in the district.
