Chief Justice Recommends Appointment of Senior Judge Ma Yong-ju as Candidate for New Supreme Court Justice

Ma Yong-joo, a senior judge at the Seoul High Court, has been appointed as a new Supreme Court justice candidate to succeed Supreme Court Justice Kim Sang-hwan, who will retire on December 27.

Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae today (26th) recommended Chief Justice Ma to the President of Yoon Suk Yeol to replace Justice Kim.

The Supreme Court explained that Chief Judge Ma had a firm belief in guaranteeing basic rights, a firm will to protect the socially disadvantaged, and morality and character that fit the public's standards.

Ma Yong-joo, a senior judge, is from Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, and started his career as a judge at the Seoul District Court and served as an ethics inspector at the National Court Administration and a senior judicial researcher at the Supreme Court.
