About 30 senior prosecutors from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office held a meeting at the Central District Prosecutors' Office from around 6 p.m. today (26th) to discuss how to respond to the prosecutor's impeachment bill pushed by the Democratic Party of Korea.
Participants in the meeting reportedly agreed that it would be unconstitutional and unfair to impeach prosecutors in the command system at the same time for handling certain cases.
In addition, it was reported that senior prosecutors should not ignore the situation as such a situation could happen not only at the central prosecutor's office but also at all prosecutors' offices nationwide.
They are reportedly considering announcing their position in the name of the chief prosecutor's team before the impeachment bill is reported to the National Assembly plenary session to inform the unfairness of the impeachment drive.
In addition, the Democratic Party of Korea has decided to report the impeachment motion against three investigators, including Chief Prosecutor Lee, Senior Prosecutor Cho Sang-won, and Director Choi Jae-hoon of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department, to the National Assembly plenary session next month in connection with the non-prosecution of First Lady Kim Gun-hee's Deutsche Motors case.
