Lee Jae-myung, "National management loses principle" in the sunset of government support for free high school education.

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized state management as losing principle, saying that the central government's support for the free high school education budget will disappear from next year due to the sunset of related regulations.

At a meeting at a high school in Seoul, Lee said, "It is hard to understand that the education support budget is being cut when all kinds of budgets are being cut due to poor national finances due to tax cuts for the super rich."

He then escaped the personal burden of high school education, but he retreated from it again, saying, "The state is not responsible for it, so you should take care of it," and pointed out that it should be corrected with the efforts of many people.

Previously, a special rule was prepared for the free high school education budget to be partially covered by the central government for five years from 2020 to 2024, and when this rule is sunset, next year's financial resources will be covered by local financial grants.

Earlier, the National Assembly's Education Committee passed an amendment to extend the effectiveness of the special rule until 2027 led by the opposition.
