The Board of Audit and Inspection has begun an all-round special audit on the selection process and support for the national team and the operation of the Korean Sports Council.

The Board of Audit and Inspection released a press release today (27th) explaining the reason for the launch of the audit, saying that transparency and fairness issues regarding the national team leader and player selection process have recently been raised, and there have been controversies over poor player training support and unfair contracts.

The special audit included not only the selection process of national leaders and athletes, but also structural problems with the operation of the Korean Sports Council and affiliated sports organizations, the absurdity of the execution of subsidies or donations, and the management and supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Board of Audit and Inspection, which has started collecting data on the Korea Sports Association, plans to check the matters requested by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the chairman of the Korea Sports Association, respectively.

To this end, the Board of Audit and Inspection will receive reports on irregularities, human rights violations, and operational corruption by the Korea Sports Council and affiliated sports organizations for a month until the 27th of next month.

The Board of Audit and Inspection said it will try to improve the chronic and structural problems of the sports community as well as unfair practices through this special audit.
