With heavy snowfall continuing for the second day, a heavy snow warning was issued in most parts of Gyeonggi-do, and the Gyeonggi-do Office of Education ordered all schools in the jurisdiction to consider closing at the discretion of the principal.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education delivered an official letter to each education support office.

The education office said it is concerned about students' safety accidents due to heavy snow and falling temperatures, and actively recommended schools to close down at all levels, and said to operate an emergency contact network to understand the safety situation.

As a result, more than 4,700 kindergartens, elementary, middle and high schools in the province will be able to adjust their school closures or school hours according to school and regional characteristics.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon also requested the recommendation of closing elementary schools and kindergartens in the province.

Snow warnings are in effect in 21 cities and counties, including Suwon, Seongnam, Anyang, Osan, Pyeongtaek, Hanam, Yongin, Icheon, Anseong, and Hwaseong, and five cities and counties in Gimpo, Gapyeong, Goyang, Uijeongbu, and Namyangju.
