Regarding the continued increase in the birth rate, the president's office said that work-family balance policies, such as reducing working hours during childcare to reduce the burden of parents' childcare, seem to have had some impact.

Yoo Hye-mi, senior presidential secretary for low birth response, said in a briefing today (28th) that the positive results related to marriage and childbirth seem to be due to various policies that have changed the "marriage penalty" to "marriage merit."

He also explained that the government will push for measures to reverse the trend of low birth rate announced in June without a hitch to strengthen the momentum of low birth rate reversal, and continue to come up with measures to supplement low birth rate by discovering areas that need additional support such as early children.

In particular, the number of second births also increased in the third quarter, a presidential office official said, adding that the recent birth figures are more positive than the COVID base effect.

The official said he expects positive news of the low birth rate reversal to come out in the future, and said he will try to reverse the birth rate, giving young people a message that the low birth rate policy will continue.
