Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th of last month that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Shinhan Bank Co., Ltd. and Mukkebi Co., Ltd., public-private partnership delivery apps.
Under the agreement, the two agencies will have public delivery app status in Gyeonggi Province from next year to 2026.The
provincial government plans to cooperate with cities and counties until this month to link the two private delivery apps with the Gyeonggi local currency payment system to enable the use of local currency when using the two private delivery apps as early as next month.
The project was pushed to support small business owners whose profit structure is deteriorating due to high brokerage fees and demand for delivery costs from private delivery app companies.
The provincial government believes that if private delivery apps with less than 2% brokerage fees use the Gyeonggi local currency payment system, it will increase sales of private delivery apps as well as boost the use of local currency.
Pull-Yo is a delivery app operated by Shinhan Bank and features a 2% low fee and a quick settlement service.
Mukkebi is a public delivery app operated by 13 local governments, including Seoul, that charges a 1.5% brokerage fee to small business owners.
