Incheon City completed the first phase of the construction in 2022 as a public offering project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and additionally spent 3 billion won on the second phase of the project.
First of all, a system that analyzes traffic signal systems and adjusts signal time using artificial intelligence (AI) was introduced on a trial basis in Western regions.
The Incheon Metropolitan Government and the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency explained that as a result of applying the system to the main intersection of Wondang-daero in Seo-gu since October, the average travel time and speed have improved and civil complaints have decreased significantly.
The Incheon Metropolitan Government also decided to build "smart intersections" in 16 northwestern Incheon to collect various information such as the number of vehicles, vehicle types, and speed and use them to improve the transportation environment.
In addition, it plans to expand its business to use real-time traffic signal information at intersections as autonomous vehicle driving technology by providing private navigation companies.
