In the same survey of residents in North Gyeongsang Province, the approval rate was 62.8%, higher than the opposition.
Both Daegu citizens and North Gyeongsang Province residents cited "regional economic growth and job creation" as the top priority in favor of administrative integration.
The most common reason for opposition to integration was "insufficient effect of economic development," followed by "increased social costs due to regional conflicts."
Of the 22 cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do, only three cities and counties, Andong, Yeongju, and Yecheon, were opposed to integration, while 19 other cities and counties chose to approve.
The Daegu Metropolitan Government explained that it conducted a poll for three days from the 27th of last month to provide basic data on policy judgment before listening to the opinions of the Daegu City Council.
In order to obtain objective results, another poll agency surveyed 1,000 Daegu citizens with the same question, and 62.8% and 37.2% of them were in favor of and against, respectively.
The poll was conducted by telephone interviews with men and women over 18 years of age randomly selected after proportional allocation by gender and age, and the sampling error was ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
