Amid the ongoing parliamentary conflict, the Korean Medical Association, the largest medical organization, will hold a five-way race for the next chairman.

Until the afternoon of the 3rd, Kang Hee-kyung, a professor at Seoul Medical University, and Kim Taek-woo, chairman of the National Council of Provincial Doctors, Lee Dong-wook, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Association, Joo Su-ho, former chairman of the Korean Medical Association, and Choi Anna, spokesman of the Korean Medical Association, registered candidates for the by-election.

Only Chairman Kang is classified as moderate, and the other four candidates are hard-liners in the government, so the direction of legislative conflict is expected to be determined by who is elected.

The vote will be held for three days from January 2nd to 4th next year, and if there is no majority vote, one more runoff will be held to select a new chairman.
