Baek Jae-myung, a prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutor's Office, has been appointed to replace Cho Eun-seok, who will retire on January 17 next year.

The Board of Audit and Inspection said that Choi Hae-jin, chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection, requested Yoon Suk Yeol President Baek today (3rd) and was approved for his appointment on January 18 next year.

The Board of Audit and Inspection explained that if the National Assembly votes on the impeachment of the auditor, the appointment was approved in advance because it was expected that it would be difficult to operate a normal audit committee due to the absence of audit committee members for a considerable period of time until the Constitutional Court decided to impeach the acting president.

Prosecutor Baek began his public career as a prosecutor in 1997 and served as the Public Security Division 1 of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, the Public Security Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the Western Branch of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, and the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office for 27 years.
