The sudden declaration of martial law by the Korean president in the middle of the night surprised not only our people but also the world.
Foreign media reported in unison as emergency news.
The declaration of martial law "threw a huge shock wave to South Korea, which has been considered democratic since the 1980s," Reuters reported.

CNN reported, "Korea's politics have long been divided and partisan, but no leader in the democratic era has ever gone to declaring martial law," adding, "Korea has fallen into a sea of political unknowns."
The New York Times also evaluated President Yoon's declaration of martial law as an "unusual response to political deadlock" and reported that "Korean lawmakers voted to challenge the president while demanding the end of martial law."
Japanese media and Chinese state media also reported the news quickly.
In particular, on China's largest search portal Baidu, the news of Korea's declaration of emergency martial law topped the search keyword list.
