New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has raised the level of travel advisory to South Korea from Level 1 to Level 2 in connection with the aftermath of the emergency martial law crisis in South Korea.

On the 4th local time, New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised the level of travel recommendations for South Korea on its travel safety website from 'Enforcement of General Safety and Security Precautions' in the first stage to 'More Careful' in the second stage.

New Zealand's Foreign Ministry's travel advisory consists of four levels, with three levels of non-essential travel restriction and four levels of travel prohibition.

In Phase 2, countries with more serious safety and security issues than is commonly seen in New Zealand are covered, and most New Zealanders are not affected by the risks, but care must be taken when traveling.

New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "We need to be careful when traveling to Korea," adding, "The martial law was temporarily declared on December 3 and lifted on the 4th. New Zealanders in South Korea should avoid all protests," he recommended.

Neighboring Australia maintained the lowest level of "general safety precautions" regarding travel to South Korea, but warned that "the situation in South Korea is changing due to changes in the domestic political situation" and "avoid protests."
