Twenty-one members of the ruling party's external party cooperation committee, including Supreme Council member Kim Jong-hyuk, Yeouido Institute President Yoo Eui-dong, and spokesmen Ho Jun-seok and Kim Hye-ran, issued a statement, saying they cannot accept the declaration of martial law that ignores the constitution and the sovereign people.
He then argued that a major decision is needed for the Republic of Korea and the people, and that if the president refuses to leave the party, the party's leadership should refer the president to the ethics committee to remove him from office and open an investigation into the defense and administrative ministers responsible for the situation.
