The ruling and opposition parties gathered in Yeouido, but martial law took effect at 11 p.m. and the main gate of the National Assembly was blocked four minutes later.
Access to the clinic has been restricted for a while, and clashes have erupted everywhere.
After midnight, armed special forces entered the National Assembly compound.
Tensions reached their peak as military troops entered the National Assembly's main office with three-digit lawmakers already gathered in the plenary hall.

With the approval of all 190 lawmakers, the resolution to lift the emergency martial law was passed, and the confrontation was barely resolved.

In the end, three hours and 27 minutes after the resolution to lift the emergency martial law, President Yoon said in his second emergency statement that he would lift martial law by accepting demands from the National Assembly.
Then, at 4:30 a.m., the Cabinet meeting decided to lift martial law, and the first emergency martial law situation since democratization ended in six hours.
