Chairman of the National Assembly "Invoking the power of parliamentary investigation to find out the truth of the martial law"
"Requires public testimony from the President…Possibility of issuing a companion order
National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik urged the ruling and opposition parties to respond, saying they would push for a parliamentary investigation into the unconstitutional emergency martial law.
In particular, he stressed that public testimony from President Yoon Suk Yeol is essential, and attention is being paid to whether it will lead to an order to accompany him if he refuses to attend.

Chairman Woo Won-sik said he would invoke the National Assembly's right to investigate certain issues without boundaries.
The plan is to examine the truth of the situation directly so that the National Assembly will not be invaded by martial law forces repeatedly.
[Won-Sik Woo / Speaker of the National Assembly: We will push for a parliamentary investigation into the unconstitutional and illegal 12.3 emergency martial law. We need to get to the bottom of who gave what instructions for what purpose and for what reason this happened.]
The parliamentary investigation must go through a procedure that requires consultation between the ruling and opposition parties, starting with a written request from at least a quarter of the registered lawmakers.
For this reason, Chairman Woo urged the ruling and opposition parties to respond quickly and cooperate, but the temperature difference between the ruling and opposition parties is clear.
The Democratic Party of Korea responded by saying it would actively respond to the chairman's demands and pressured the people to participate, but the people's power, which is empty in the floor leadership, has not come up with a particular position.
However, as the speaker of the National Assembly has expressed his strong will, the possibility of the opposition party alone is open according to the relevant laws.
In particular, Chairman Woo emphasized the need for public testimony with President Yoon Suk Yeol as a witness in the investigation of state affairs.
If adopted as an actual witness, there is a high possibility of refusing to attend, and attention is also being paid to whether it will lead to the issuance of an accompanying order.
[Won-Sik Woo / Speaker of the National Assembly: (Political investigation can also be ordered to accompany.) Let's not go that far.]
It is interpreted that Woo Won-sik's parliamentary investigation card, which was brought up at a time when the investigation by the prosecution, the police, and the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit is underway, stems from the strong dissatisfaction of the head of the parliament toward the current government's martial law attempt.
