Kwon Sung-dong, a five-term lawmaker who is considered the so-called "original pro-yoon," was elected to the floor leader of the People's Power, which had been vacant since the emergency martial law crisis.

He will lead the party under the so-called "two-top" system with representative Han Dong-hoon, and the first task was to reach an agreement on the pros and cons of the president's impeachment.

Reporter Kim Da-yeon reports.

Representative Kwon Sung-dong, who was elected as the new floor leader of the People's Power, put forward a quick party reorganization and preparation for the presidential election as his first step in office.

Although he is classified as a so-called "pro-yoon," he also expressed his willingness to communicate with representative Han Dong-hoon, emphasizing that he has not spared any criticism toward the president.

However, he stressed that the opposition to the impeachment of the president is still a party theory, and that changing it requires the consent of more than two-thirds of lawmakers.

On the day of the floor leader election, when the president's surprise statement broke out, representative Han held an unscheduled press conference and poured out high-level remarks one after another.

The president publicly expressed his "yes" intention to impeach the party for the first time in front of lawmakers, saying he had violated the public's promise to step down early on issues including his term in office.

The hall was in turmoil, and lawmakers, classified as so-called pro-Yoon-gye, did not hesitate to point fingers at Goseong.

[Kang Seung-gyu / People's Power: What are you talking about? Come down. Come down. [Come down]

[Han Dong-hoon / Representative of People's Power: Representative Lee Chul-kyu, speak. What did you say? Rep. Kang Myung-gu, speak.]

[Lee Chul-kyu / People's Power: I didn't stand here as a representative person....]

It is also true that in the wake of the president's statement that even the ruling party has made excuses, voices within the party have increased to argue for a vote on impeachment.

However, the internal strife is expected to continue for the time being, regardless of the conclusion at the general meeting of additional lawmakers, as the position of the former President Park Geun Hye should be firmly established.
