The Times, a British daily newspaper, has shed light on the controversy surrounding Kim Gun-hee over the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The Times interpreted the public's view of First Lady Kim through an article titled "Koreans Point to Lady Macbeth" as the reason for martial law on the 16th local time.

Lady Macbeth is the wife of Macbeth, the protagonist of one of Shakespeare's four tragedies, who falls with her husband in power with a strong desire for power.

The Times called Kim's style of political involvement "South Korea's Lady Macbeth," calling it a Machiavellian style with strong gwonmo skills.

"As President Yoon fights more and more desperate for political survival, angry attention is focused on his wife's contribution to the embattled presidency," he said, observing the domestic situation.

The Times also introduced South Korea's view that President Yoon's declaration of martial law on the 3rd is not irrelevant to First Lady Kim."While the motive is not entirely clear, many Koreans suspect, at least in part, that catastrophic move was a means to protect their denials from possible investigations and prosecutions," the media outlet

said.

The Times also separately introduced the controversy surrounding Kim since President Yoon entered politics.

First of all, The Times said, "Since her husband, a stern and simple former prosecutor, appeared in politics five years ago, Mrs. Kim has given her much-needed splendor.""But from the beginning, she was a controversial figure who frequently tarnished the conservative political agenda that her husband was pursuing with ambition, marked taste and strong opinions," the media outlet

noted.

In particular, The Times analyzed the aftermath of several scandals that Kim jeopardized herself in a way that forced her to move away from ordinary Koreans.

Examples include allegations of education chiefs during the presidential campaign, the shooting of receiving luxury bags as gifts, and the use of bank accounts held to manipulate stock prices.
