The Japanese government says it is paying special attention to a series of moves in Korea in connection with the approval of the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol at the Korean National Assembly.

Japanese government spokesman Yoshimasa Hayashi said at a regular press conference that he would refrain from mentioning other countries' internal affairs when asked about the Japanese government's approval of President Yoon's impeachment and cooperation between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan.

He then stressed that South Korea is an important neighbor to cooperate in various tasks of the international community and that the importance of Korea-Japan relations remains unchanged in the current strategic environment.

At the same time, he reiterated his existing position, saying that he continues to communicate closely with the Korean side.

At the same time, Acting President Han Duck-soo said, "I know that I had a phone call with U.S. President Joe Biden yesterday," adding, "Strategic cooperation between Korea, the U.S. and Japan is more important than ever in order to deal with the region's severe security environment and complex international issues."
