At his first press conference since his election at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, on the 16th local time, Trump said the war in Ukraine was the most horrific carnage since World War II.
Trump also stressed to Zelensky that too many people were dying and that he should be ready to negotiate, before calling on Putin to negotiate.
Trump criticized the Biden administration's approval of the use of long-range missiles, saying the war in Ukraine is difficult compared to the situation in the Middle East.
He then stressed about North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as another person who gets on well and added that it was a very big mistake he should not do so weeks before taking over the regime.
Trump did not elaborate on whether he had spoken to Putin since his presidential victory.
