The Justice Department said it has been asked by the Constitutional Court to submit a legal review opinion on the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol and is considering whether to submit it.
Submission of opinions is not mandatory, but is used as a reference for the Constitutional Court hearing process.
Earlier, Justice Minister Park Sung-jae was suspended after the impeachment motion was passed by the National Assembly over allegations of involvement in martial law, and like President Yoon, he is awaiting a trial by the Constitutional Court.
During the 2016 impeachment trial of former President Park Geun Hye, he submitted a 40-page opinion.
