While the Constitutional Court has begun preparing for the impeachment trial of President Yoon with three of the nine justices vacant, the people's power has put the brakes on the Democratic Party's plan to fill all the vacancies by the end of the year.

Before citing the impeachment bill, Acting President Han Deok-soo claimed that he could not appoint a constitutional judge, but the opposition countered that it was a sophistry to delay the impeachment.

After the People's Power drew a line on the schedule of the three constitutional judges' hearings announced by the Democratic Party, saying "there was no agreement," this time he expressed opposition to the appointment itself.

Now that the president's position is not empty, but only his duties have been suspended, acting president Han Deok-soo's exercise of authority should be cautious, and the appointment of a constitutional judge is also the same.

[Kwon Seong-dong / People's Power Floor Leader: Acting President Han Deok-soo cannot appoint a constitutional judge until the president's impeachment trial and decision is made.]

It is a problem to hear the impeachment motion with three vacancies, or the "six-member system," as it is now, but the logic is that it is inevitable in the process until President Yoon is actually fired.

Citing the precedent in which Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn appointed Justice Lee Sun-ae after former President Park Park Geun Hye's impeachment in the past, the Democratic Party also criticized the exercise of the right to appoint him at the time,

The Democratic Party immediately responded that it was sophistry.

The Democratic Party opposed the nomination of Acting President Hwang to replace Park Han-chul, the chief justice of the Constitutional Court, which is "the presidential nomination," and

Now, the judges recommended by the National Assembly are nothing more than formal appointments by the acting president, refuting that they are not subject to comparison.

[Park Chan-dae / Minjoo Party floor leader: It's just a pun that the acting president can't appoint him. The people's power should give up the lame procedural delay operation and quickly respond to the consultation on the schedule of the confirmation hearing.]

In particular, in the "six-member system," he said, "Isn't it a trick aimed at the fact that President Yoon can be fired only when unanimous agreement is reached?"

I urged him not to try to slow down the process in a lame manner to save the gangsters, but to cooperate quickly in establishing a nine-member system for fairness in the impeachment trial.

The first meeting of floor leaders of the ruling and opposition parties since the approval of the presidential impeachment bill also ended with only confirming differences over the appointment of a constitutional judge, overshadowing the purpose of "discussing how to deal with the political situation."
