In July last year, both on-site directors and supervisors accused of poor construction of temporary levees, which were blamed for the tragedy in Osong Underground Road in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, where 14 people died, were sentenced to less in the appeal trial.

The appellate court of the Cheongju District Court reversed the sentence of the first trial, and reduced the on-site director A from 7 years and 6 months to 6 years in prison, and the supervisor B from 6 years to 4 years in prison.

The court admitted some crimes against A and said,
that it is difficult to regard it as A's own fault.Regarding Mr.
B, he said that other causes also affected the accident and that he considered contacting related agencies several times to prevent the accident.

Regarding the ruling, the bereaved family protested that they did not understand whether there was anything that could have been commuted even though many people died in the Osong disaster.
