Jeon, who appeared at the court for an arrest examination, headed to the court without answering reporters' questions about the reason for receiving political funds and his relationship with the president and his wife.
Jeon, known as a shaman, is accused of receiving about 100 million won in illegal political funds and interfering in the recommendation of political party candidates in the 2018 local elections.
The prosecution arrested Jeon urgently the day before yesterday and raided his residence in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and the law office in Gangnam-gu, securing three cell phones for analysis.
Jeon stated that he received money in the name of "prayer money," but returned some of it after the candidate failed.
Previously, Jeon was known to be active in the presidential campaign in Yoon Suk Yeol in 2022 and was also close to First Lady Kim Gun-hee, and suspicions arose that he was intervening in interests by showing off his relationship with the president and his wife.
