The New York Stock Exchange's three major stock indexes closed mixed in the flat range as the shock of the U.S. Federal Reserve's "speed control theory" over next year's rate cut continued for a second day the previous day.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones 30 Industrial Average closed at 42,342.24, up 15.37 points or 0.04% from the previous session. The

Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 closed at 19,372.77, down 5.08 points and 0.09% from the previous session, while the Nasdaq Composite closed at 19,877, down 19.92 points and 0.10% from the previous session.

As the Fed's monetary policy uncertainty grew, investors remained at a loss for a second day following yesterday, and the three major stock indexes, which gradually returned their gains, ended in a mixed session.

The Fed may turn to a rate hike after a prolonged rate freeze, as inflationary unrest has been mentioned as the background of the pace of the rate cut, is a source of instability in the stock market.
