Former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who was arrested on charges of rebellion in connection with the emergency martial law incident, said he would sue Democratic lawmakers who raised suspicions about the National Assembly's suppression operation.

Former Minister Kim's lawyers said they are suing Rep. Choo Mi-ae, Park Beom-gye, Seo Young-kyo and Park Sun-won of the Democratic Party of Korea for defamation by spreading false information to the high-ranking government official's criminal investigation office.

They claimed at a National Assembly press conference yesterday (19th) that former Minister Kim said at a luncheon at the Defense Convention Center on the morning of the 3rd, "The National Assembly is playing with the defense budget, so push it to the tank."

Former Minister Kim claimed that the allegations were false and that he would seek compensation for damage to Rep. Choo and others and push for a petition for disciplinary action against lawmakers.
