Ssangyong Engineering & Construction's contribution to Samsung C&T has increased significantly in the dispute over construction costs for Seoul Subway Line 9.
The Seoul High Court recently ruled that Ssangyong Engineering & Construction should pay an additional 12.5 billion won in a reversal of Samsung C&T's joint cost-sharing lawsuit against Ssangyong Engineering & Construction.
Including the 33.23 billion won confirmed earlier, Ssangyong E&C's total compensation to Samsung C&T has increased to 45.28 billion won due to the dispute.
Earlier, after the two companies participated in the construction of subway line 9 linking Samjeon-dong and Seokchon Station in Songpa-gu, Seoul, the construction cost increased sharply due to the sinkhole accident in 2014, prompting a lawsuit for the cost-sharing of the construction.
