As controversy erupted over the decision of the National Election Commission to ban the posting of a banner of people's power containing the phrase "No Lee Jae-myung," the NEC decided to hold a meeting tomorrow (23rd) to discuss it again.

An official of the NEC said that it has decided to add the banner-related issue as an agenda to the entire committee meeting presided over by Chairman Roh Tae-ak at 5 p.m. tomorrow (23rd).

The official explained that in the face of the possibility of an early presidential election, the phrase that would be interpreted as direct support and opposition to "scheduled candidates" was judged as a pre-election campaign and sanctioned.

He then added that he did not restrict political slogans such as "civil war accomplices" and "Lee Jae-myung's arrest."

However, he said he intends to look again at the level of the entire committee as there are a series of issues raised by politicians and others.

People's Power Rep. Jeong Yeon-wook previously tried to post a banner reading "No Lee Jae-myung" in his district, but when the NEC refused to approve it, saying it was a pre-election campaign, he protested that the people's power was a biased decision and a violation of their political neutrality obligations.
