Of the funds, 1 billion won will be donated to 18 local children's centers nationwide as 23 Kona EVs, and the remaining 500 million won will be used to establish care centers in Ulsan.
Hyundai Motor has donated a total of 193 units to welfare facilities since 2005, and 23 simultaneous donations are the largest ever.
It added that the beneficiary institution was selected on the basis of vehicle necessity, business suitability, and institutional reliability after screening by green umbrellas and experts in public institutions.
Lee Dong-seok, CEO of Hyundai Motor, said, "Labor and management will continue to work together to contribute to the low birth rate problem and the improvement of the child care environment."
Moon Yong-moon, head of Hyundai Motor's branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union, also said, "I hope Rudolph Kona EV supported by labor and management will present joy and hope to children ahead of Christmas."
