The Russian government has said that the North Korean military can participate in Russia's World War II victory anniversary and Victory Day events next year.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said soldiers from various countries will participate in the 80th anniversary military parade on May 9 next year, adding that the North Korean military is also likely to participate.

Earlier on the 30th of last month, Russia's Defense Ministry said Russian Defense Minister Andrei Bellowsov, who visited North Korea, told North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that he would invite North Korean troops to the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day military parade and wait for a positive decision.

Following a series of recent videos of Ukrainian troops' engagement with North Korean forces, President Zelenskyy claimed that more than 3,000 North Korean troops were killed or wounded on the Russian front of Kursk, which the Russian government has been silent about the North Korean military's participation in.
