The first country that comes to mind when you think of Christmas is Finland, the home of Santa Claus.

An island in Helsinki, Finland, made a special transformation for Christmas.

Residents who volunteered turned the island into a Christmas village and presented warm memories to visitors.

Reporter Kim Eun-jin went to the Christmas event on Seurasari Island in Finland, which was like a scene in a fairy tale.

Everyone's face, regardless of gender or age, is full of excitement.

Christmas decorations are combined throughout the towering trees to create a winter fairytale landscape.

It usually retains Finnish tradition and operates as an outdoor folk museum, which transforms into a Christmas village for just one day each year.

Visitors ride carriages or drop by the Christmas post office to send letters to remember the day.

Even in the cold weather of minus 7 degrees Celsius, the hearts of those who visit the island are warm.

[Tuominen / Visitor: It was nice to be able to mail directly home through the Christmas post office. My grandchildren sent me a card home. Now I'm going to keep following the road and see what comes out. It's fun.]

The Surasari Island Christmas celebration began in 1996 to preserve the tradition of Finnish Christmas culture.

This year's 29th event will be free of charge for all hands-on events other than food.

In particular, Santa and Elf, who greet visitors from all over the island, are made up of volunteers, making it even more special.

[Fia Lasonen / President, Senior Elf, Christmas Road: We provide everything to families except food for free. I think it's important to have such an event. We encourage families to spend time together, enjoy nature and enjoy outdoor activities.
