Biological big data for senior citizens aged 65 or older, established by Chosun University in Gwangju, is receiving high attention both inside and outside the country.
Following the request for help from Inje University in Gyeongnam, which promotes Glocal University, medical companies with international networks have also been exploring sharing intentions.
Reporter Kim Bum-hwan reports.

Inje University, which was selected as Glocal University, signed a business agreement with Chosun University.
To get help from community-based 'cohort', same group research.
[Han Jin / Director of Biomedical Center, Inje University: We are conducting a cohort study that is becoming a model case worldwide, so we collaborated with a dementia cohort research team in Gwangju to benchmark and seek help.]
Earlier, the Chosun University Dementia Cohort Research Group has collaborated with Gwangju Metropolitan City for the past 12 years to secure precise biomedical information for senior citizens aged 65 or older.
In Korea, the probability of getting dementia increases from 10% at the age of 65 to nearly 40% at the age of 85.
[Lee Kun-ho / Head of Chosun University Empirical Research: More than 13,000 participants aged 65 or older have constructed MRI scans and precise biomedical information such as blood.]
Such big data is also being noted by medical institutions and universities in global chains that study various senile diseases and longevity.
This is because it contains almost all information about the human body, such as dielectric, metabolites, and proteins, which can serve as the foundation for the development of therapeutic substances in the future.
[Adil Mardinoglu/Professor Achibadem University, Turkiye: Basically, I think that if we set up a large research center in the center of Korea, all research and development will proceed faster and smoother.]
Attention is focusing on how the big data of senior citizens in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do will play a role in the industrialization of biohealth through cooperation within and outside the country.
