Oh Se-hoon to U.S. Ambassador for Honorary Citizenship "Thank You for Trust in Korea"

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon met with the U.S. ambassador to South Korea and expressed his gratitude for showing deep trust in South Korean democracy at a time of political turmoil.

At the presentation of the honorary Seoul citizenship card to U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Philip Goldberg today, Mayor Oh said, "I think we were able to find a credibility in the international community very quickly thanks to Ambassador Philip's trust in South Korea."

In response, Ambassador Philip said, "It is true that there has been uncertainty over the past two weeks, but one thing we can be sure of is that it is an ironclad Korea-U.S. alliance, and we believe in the democracy and constitutional system of South Korea."

He also evaluated that the Korea-U.S. relationship has become a new partnership that encompasses new areas such as trade and diplomacy beyond just military and security relations, and emphasized that the U.S. will be with the Korean people.
