The Asahi Shimbun reported that the Japanese government is coordinating a plan to set aside a record 8.67 trillion yen and 80.5 trillion won in our money for defense in fiscal 2025.

This is an increase of 750 billion yen from the defense cost in fiscal 2024 and 7 trillion won from our money, and if it is set as it is, it will surpass 8 trillion yen per year for the first time.

Japan revised the three security documents in December 2022 to increase its defense-related budget to 2% of gross domestic product and GDP in fiscal 2027 and secure 43 trillion yen and 399 trillion won in defense expenses over five years.
