Former lieutenant governor Lee filed an appeal against the second trial's ruling, which sentenced him to seven years and eight months in prison and a fine of 250 million won on charges of violating the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act.
The prosecution also appealed earlier, saying that there was a misunderstanding of the law in the second trial ruling, which sentenced a sentence less than the first trial.
Earlier, the second trial court sentenced Ssangbangwool Group to seven years and eight months in prison, reducing 1 year and 10 months in consideration of the sentencing conditions, while maintaining the first trial's judgment that it delivered $8 million to the North at the request of former lieutenant governor Lee.
