The government says it will issue special travel advisories starting tomorrow in parts of Mozambique, where security conditions have deteriorated dramatically, including intensifying protests.

The move will raise the travel warning for the rest of the two areas except Cabo Delgado, where the third level of travel warning, which is equivalent to the departure recommendation, has already been issued.

The special travel advisory recommends cancellation or postponement of travel for those who are scheduled to travel, and leaving the country unless it is urgent for local residents.

Special travel advisories are issued in case of urgent risks in the short term and are valid for up to 90 days from the date of issuance.

Mozambique's security situation has deteriorated recently, with dozens of people killed and more than 1,500 prison inmates escaping as protests reignited over the presidential election controversy.
