Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People's Power, argued that the ruling and opposition parties should meet immediately and agree to extend the 52-hour workweek for workplaces with fewer than 30 employees.

Representative Yoon wrote on his SNS, saying that the 52-hour weekly system given by the Ministry of Employment and Labor yesterday (26th) to small and medium-sized enterprises with less than 30 employees will end from January 1 next year.

The industry, which has not made the necessary preparations with just five days left to implement, is greatly embarrassed, he said, stressing that the voices of the field and the severe economic slump should be considered.

In particular, he pointed out that the enforcement of the 52-hour workweek will lead to weakening corporate competitiveness and delayed economic recovery amid complex difficulties such as sluggish domestic demand, exports, and high exchange rates, along with chronic labor shortages and financial difficulties for SMEs.
