The GTX-A Paju-Seoul Station section of the metropolitan express railway will open tomorrow (28th).

It runs from Paju Unjeong to Seoul Station in 22 minutes, and it is expected to be of great help to transportation in the northwestern part of the metropolitan area.

The 32.3km section north of GTX-A opens and runs from 5:30 a.m. tomorrow.

It starts from Unjeong, Paju, and connects to Seoul Station through KINTEX, Daegok, and Yeseongnae.
Changneung Station between Daegok
and Yeonsinnae is scheduled to open in 2030.

It ran from Paju to Seoul Station in 22 minutes at a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour, reducing 24 minutes compared to the existing subway and 44 minutes compared to the wide-area bus.

In particular, KINTEX, where various large events are held, has a greater expected effect as it takes about an hour from Seoul Station to only 16 minutes.

For now, it will operate every 10 minutes during commuting time, but in the first half of next year, three more trains will be added to reduce the interval between buses to 6 minutes and 15 seconds.

The boarding platform is more than 50m deep underground, and six to eight elevators installed in each station are expected to be mainly used.

The fee is 3,200 won basic and it is 4,450 won from Paju to Seoul Station.

[Kim Se-yeon / Paju citizen: I just moved in from Seoul, but GTX will open. So, I think it'll be great to be able to go to work quickly in 20 minutes just because I'm going to Seoul. And a child came to the opening ceremony site because he won, and I think it's good because it's connected to Unjeong Central Park.]

GTX-A opened in the south of Dongtan-Suseo section in March, followed by additional Yongin Guseong Station in June, and the northern section was opened this time, and the waist section of Seoul Station-Suseo section is not open.

This is due to the delay in the construction of the Samsung Station Complex Transfer Center, and from next year, we plan to operate the entire route without stopping at Samsung Station.

[Choi Seong-cheol / GTX-A Operator Construction Operations Headquarters: Once the railway is completed, it plans to open in the first half of 2026 and run to Suseo and Dongtan without stopping]

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport predicts that the demand for boarding on weekdays between Paju and Seoul Station will be 50,37 people, more than double the 25,500 between Suseo and Dongtan.
