U.S. "supports South Korea's democratic process" on acting president's impeachment

The U.S. government said the U.S. commitment to the South Korea-U.S. alliance is strong in relation to the passing of the impeachment bill against acting President Han Deok-soo.

"We reiterate our support for South Korea and the Korean people, for democratic procedures and the rule of law," the Pentagon said when asked about its position on the acting impeachment.

"The South Korea-U.S. alliance has made great progress in recent years, and we look forward to further progress in cooperation with South Korea," he said.

Earlier, the U.S. government has expressed grave concern about President Yoon's martial law and has emphasized solving problems in accordance with democracy and constitutional procedures.
