Religious circles mourn in unison over Muan Jeju Air plane disaster

The religious community mourned the Jeju Air plane disaster at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do and urged the government to prevent a recurrence.

Monk Jinwoo, the general manager of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, earnestly wished the victims' paradise and expressed his deep comfort to the bereaved families, asking them to make every effort to find out the cause and progress of the accident so that unfortunate events do not repeat.

The Korean Catholic Bishops' Association said in a condolence under the name of its chairman, Bishop Lee Yong-hoon, that God should embrace the souls of the victims and ask government authorities and officials to do their best to improve the safety environment and conditions to prevent such a tragedy from happening again.

Kim Jong-saeng, general secretary of the Korean Council of Churches, said, "We deeply express our condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones," adding, "The government hopes to make all-out efforts to deal with the situation."

The Sungkyunkwan Judo Association Headquarters conveyed its condolences to the victims and their families, and said it is eager for thorough investigation-based reflection and safety measures against disasters to be prepared.

Na Sang-ho, the head of Won Buddhism Correctional Center, said, "We sincerely pray for the victims' liberation," stressing that airlines and related authorities should quickly identify the cause of the accident and take care of it quickly and legally so that the bereaved family is not even an inch incomplete."
