Two Thai women identified...Pope "Prayers for Victims and Survivors"

The two Thai people who died in the Jeju Air flight disaster were both women, married to Koreans, or had an accident on their way to meet their families in Korea.

The international community expressed its deepest condolences to the victims and their families in the shock of the accident.

Reporter Lee Kyung-ah reports.

According to Thai media outlet Bangkok Post, Thai Ambassador to Korea Thani Sanglet said 45 and 22-year-old Thai women were killed in the accident.

Local media Matichon reported that the deceased 45-year-old woman came to Korea to work seven years ago, met her Korean husband, settled down, and had an accident on her way back home.

The dead woman's father shed tears, saying he wanted to see his daughter's face for the last time when the body returned to his hometown, the media said.

Another deceased 22-year-old woman was found to have been defecated on her way to meet her mother, who is married to a Korean.

Amid the unfortunate story, mourning for the victims of the accident continues to the international community.

Pope Francis prayed for the victims of the accident during a Mass at the Vatican.

[Pope Francis: Condolences with many families in South Korea who are grieving over the tragic aircraft accident. I pray for the survivors and the dead.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she sends her deepest condolences to the families of the victims and South Korea, adding: "At a time of grief, Europe is with you."

The heads of state, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, also offered condolences and consolations to the bereaved families.

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a consolation telegram to Acting President Choe Sang-mok about the accident.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba also said he is deeply saddened by the loss of many noble lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
