Ahead of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20 next year, there are concerns that the House Speaker election, which will take place early next year, could fall into chaos like last year due to a breakaway vote within the Republican Party.

The House speaker is up to the Republican Party, but the difference in the number of seats between the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party is not large, making it impossible for the Republican Party to select its own members and could disrupt the holding of a joint Senate and House committee to finally certify the results of the presidential election.

The U.S. House of Representatives will elect the speaker of the House of Representatives on January 3 next year, when the 119th Congress begins, in a "call vote" in which each member publicly expresses his or her opinion on the pros and cons, and the person who wins the majority of the total vote will be elected.

Republicans have elected current House Speaker Mike Johnson as their nominee for the next Congressional chair, but hardliners, including Representative Thomas Mash, have not expressed their support, citing the handling of the interim budget bill.

Earlier in January last year, another vote was held for the first time in 100 years due to opposition from hardliners in the Republican Party, resulting in a three-day vacancy for the chairman.
