A study found that each cigarette reduces life expectancy by 20 minutes.

According to the Guardian on the 29th local time, a research team at University College London in the UK found that every cigarette reduced life expectancy by 17 minutes for men and 22 minutes for women on average.

This is twice the amount announced in 2000, and a pack of 20 cigarettes eats away at seven hours of life expectancy.

The research team explained that if smokers who smoke 10 cigarettes a day quit smoking from January 1 next year, their life expectancy can be extended by one day in just eight days.

In addition, it was analyzed that smoking cessation for one year until the end of the year has the effect of extending life expectancy by 50 days.

The British research team emphasized that smokers should quit smoking altogether to avoid shortening their health and life expectancy.

Earlier in 2000, a research paper published in the British Medical Journal analyzed that every cigarette a smoker smoked reduces life expectancy by 11 minutes.
