At the plenary session, the National Assembly voted for a plan to conduct a parliamentary investigation with 191 in favor, 71 against and 23 abstentions out of 285 present.
The activity deadline of the Special Committee on the National Assembly Investigation, which will be in charge of the actual investigation, is 45 days from today (31st) to February 13, and Rep. Ahn Kyu-baek of the Democratic Party will chair the committee.
The scope of the investigation is all about allegations related to emergency martial law, including whether to plan in advance before declaring the emergency martial law and whether to operate an arrest group for major politicians.
The investigation also included military-related organizations such as the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces Counterintelligence Command, Intelligence Command and Martial Law Command, along with the Office of the President and the National Security Agency, the Office of the President, the Office of the Presidential Security, the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Justice.
The special committee, consisting of 10 Democratic Party members, 7 People's Power members, and 1 non-conservative group, plans to conduct inquiries from related organizations and interrogations of witnesses and reference members, and the ruling and opposition parties are expected to conduct nerve conduction in the process of adopting witnesses in the future.
