When Acting President Choi Sang-mok said he would appoint two of the three candidates for the Constitutional Court recommended by the National Assembly, the People's Power expressed regret, saying that Choi gave in to the opposition's threat to impeach him.
The Democratic Party of Korea is immediately holding a general meeting of lawmakers and discussing countermeasures.
I'm connecting with the National Assembly reporter, reporter Son Hyo-jung!
The ruling and opposition parties have been sharply divided over the appointment of constitutional judges, so please tell the reaction of each party to today's Cabinet meeting.

Kwon Sung-dong, the floor leader of the People's Power Party, told reporters at the National Assembly shortly after the Cabinet meeting that he was deeply sorry for Choi's appointment as a constitutional judge.
In the presidential impeachment trial, procedural fairness is important, and Choi slammed the opposition for sacrificing due process principles by giving in to the threat of impeachment.
The National Assembly, the prosecutor of the impeachment, appoints a constitutional judge who is the subject of the impeachment judgment, and violates the grand principle of separation of prosecution and trial under the constitution.
The acting president's role should stop at maintaining the status quo, but the enforcement of the appointment of constitutional judges constitutes a significant change in the status quo, Choi said, urging him to look back on Prime Minister Han Deok-soo's earlier decision.
The opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, have yet to make a party-level stance.
However, as acting Choi said he would accept only one of the two candidates recommended by the opposition party, it seems that the struggle for the remaining constitutional judge position is deepening.
First of all, the Democratic Party of Korea has been holding a general meeting of lawmakers for a while and discussing how to respond to the acting Choi's decision.
The independent counsel for civil war and the Kim Gun-hee independent counsel law, which the Democratic Party of Korea has repeatedly called for acceptance, were eventually exercised, so there may be opinions claiming the impeachment of acting Choi.
However, if the two independent counsel laws return to the National Assembly with veto power, the possibility cannot be ruled out that the ruling and opposition parties will continue to discuss the scope of the independent counsel's investigation or the authority to recommend it.
So far, I've delivered it to you by the National Assembly.
